THE ASK:
In November 2021, Xbox celebrates its 20th anniversary. With a global audience in mind, create a commemorative campaign that invites all players, old and new, to celebrate the greatest moments of Xbox during the past 20 years.
THE STRATEGY
There is no limit on what gaming “is” and who can be a part of it. Regardless of age, gender, ability level, or nationality, gaming is something that brings people together. The feelings of connection and nostalgia that can come from playing video games are endless and can be shared with anyone. With Xbox, the possibilities of what gaming can create are endless.
The Opportunity:
Highlight the feelings of nostalgia, connection, and belonging that are associated with Xbox and gaming.
There are 20 years worth of stories that all start with the launch of the original Xbox in 2001. This is when users were first introduced to the endless possibilities of gaming.
The Insight:
More than anything, people who play video games value the connections and stories that they form with others. They look for a community that isn’t bound to one single console, country, or belief system. Connection through gaming is universal.

The Story:
Xbox bridges the gaming universe with your own world, creating an experience that extends beyond the screen and lasts for generations to come.
Whether you’re saving up for your first console or staying up until sunrise playing Call of Duty with your friends, everyone has a story to share. Players come for the game, but stay for the stories.
THE CAMPAIGN
Titled “Xbox Stories,” this campaign is meant to highlight the stories that come out of gaming with Xbox. The physical console is simply a medium for social interactions and moments of connection that come out of playing video games with others. Regardless of who you are and where you come from, Xbox Stories speaks to the infinite possibilities that come from picking up your controller, powering up your Xbox, and entering your favorite game with a group of friends.
Through 3 different interactive competition events, players from around the world are invited to show off their favorite in-game moments from the past 20 years and put their gaming skills to the test, both virtually and in-person.
